Week 2 of Marking and Feedback Fortnight 3
It was great to hear this week’s Monday Magic Moment led by Head of Faculty for MFL Mrs Charles.
In MFL marking and feedback is completely embedded in lessons and is having a very positive effect in supporting all students to achieve well and make great progress from their starting points.
Routines of writing out spelling mistakes, responding with purple pen to questions and prompts made by the teacher in their green pen marking and using all the feedback stickers available through our Feedback Policy are completely engrained in lessons; students know exactly what to do to enhance their work and take it to the next level.
Mrs Charles also explained to all staff how students take action to improve their work, even before their work is ‘officially’ marked by the teacher. This up-levels their work and engages them in cross-referencing the success criteria and builds further independence into their progress journey.
Mrs Charles leads her faculty so effectively in this key area of teaching pedagogy and ensures that most of the marking is completed by the students, easing the workload for staff. She also trains her Sixth Form leaders to support staff with spotting some of the more basic errors in students’ work, using this approach as a way of also upskilling the sixth formers abilities as well – all very smart and clever!
It was an impressive start to the week and launched Week 2 of our latest Marking and Feedback Fortnight really effectively.
