Bushey Meads take on Macmillan Coffee Morning

Every year, in the middle of dreary September, the staff of Bushey Meads take part in World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to help raise money for Cancer Research.

World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. Each year, people in the UK and worldwide host their own Coffee Morning. The donations received go towards Macmillan services. In 2016 alone, World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised £29.5 million.
For the third year running, the staff of Bushey Meads came together to eat cake in the name of battling cancer. Many staff members supplied some tasty goods ranging from Miss Dunsby’s Apple cake to Mr Dowty’s Mars Cheesecake and even a gluten free option so everyone could join in!
It is a charity close to my heart as my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and the wonderful staff at Addenbrookes and Queen Elizabeth Hospital was indelible. They helped my family through a very difficult time and the wonderful nurses were always there to lend a shoulder. Without them, I wouldn’t have my mum with me now.
I am proud to announce that we have raised £167.11 which will go towards providing care for people fighting cancer and their families.
I look forward to seeing you all next year for this amazing cause.
