At the end of last academic year, a group of 13 current Year 9 students have recently been taking part in the Future Ready careers programme, giving them exciting opportunities to explore a range of future career pathways.
As part of the programme, students visited Sky Studios Elstree for the Hop into Film and TV workshop. Throughout the day, they took part in three interactive sessions, including a behind-the-scenes tour of a working film studio where they learned about lighting, engineering, and the technical aspects of television production. They also experienced a hands-on BBC filming workshop, using professional camera, sound, and visual equipment, before finishing the day with a visit to the Universal Studios prop store, where they discovered how props help bring film and television productions to life.
The following week, students welcomed representatives from Equinix, one of the world’s leading digital infrastructure companies. During an engaging workshop, students learned about the important role of data centres across the UK and completed a practical team challenge. They also heard first-hand from an Equinix apprentice about the different career pathways available within the company.
With Equinix currently developing a new site next to South Mimms Motorway Services in Hertfordshire and planning to recruit apprentices over the next five years, students gained a valuable insight into exciting local career opportunities for the future.
The Future Ready programme has provided our students with inspiring, real-world experiences and has encouraged them to think ambitiously about the wide range of careers available to them.
