Spark Curiosity and Critical Thinking with...

We are thrilled to highlight a fantastic digital resource available to our entire school community: The Day.

In today’s fast-paced world, staying informed is more important than ever. The Day is a leading digital literacy platform that provides daily, unbiased current affairs tailored specifically for young minds. It is designed to boost literacy, supercharge critical thinking, and inspire lively debate on the world’s biggest stories.

Why Use The Day?

  • Accessible & Readable: The news can sometimes feel overwhelming or dry. The Day breaks down complex global events into highly engaging, easy-to-understand articles without stripping away the nuance.
  • Unbiased Reporting: It teaches students how to think, not what to think, by presenting balanced perspectives on contemporary issues.
  • Beyond the Headlines: Every article comes packed with interactive quizzes to test comprehension, alongside thought-provoking debate questions that challenge students to grapple with big ideas.

How to Access It

We’ve made logging in completely seamless. Students don’t need to worry about remembering another password! Every student has direct access via a dedicated link on their BMS intranet page. It is visible right on the dashboard as soon as they log into their BMS account.

How to Get Involved at Home

We encourage you to use The Day as a springboard for family discussion. Why not ask your child about the “Debate of the Day” over dinner, or challenge each other to one of the weekly news quizzes? It’s a brilliant way to connect classroom learning with the wider world.

Whether it’s for homework research, class discussion, or just satisfying a personal curiosity about world events, The Day is a fantastic tool to help our students become informed, analytical global citizens.
