Working with students from Meadow Wood School

As part of an ongoing link with Meadow Wood School students from Bushey Meads have had the opportunity, in the last 6 weeks, to work with the students from Ladybird class at Meadow Wood focusing on PE based activities.

Earlier in the academic year the year 12 childcare group worked with the same students from Meadow Wood as part of their SEND placement a requirement of their course.  The recent group of students have come from year 9 most having opted to do childcare in year 10.

The BMS students have been praised by the staff from MW for their empathy as well as dedication to working with the severely disabled students.  They have developed confidence in their communications with both the students and staff, asking pertinent questions about the capabilities of the students and how they can help and support them.

The BMS students have been a real credit to the school and it has been lovely to stand back and watch them forge such positive relationships which to the outsider could look one-sided but to the students of Meadow Wood have been a highlight and something they have looked forward to.

We hope to develop more of these opportunities in the next academic year.

Participating students, in year 9, this half term: M.Boyle, N.Becht, J.Cook, C.Harrop, K.Jackson, R.Lloyd, C.O’Shea,
