Scorers : N Gibson 2

Squad : O Woodbrock (GK), O Phillips (Capt), E Rumney, N Gibson, C Allan, G Jabarkhail, D Mason, G Fogden, A Cohen, Z Butler, D Henry

Commended performances : D Mason, Z Butler

Comment : The Year 7 team lost a very closely contested County Plate match suffering a 5-2 defeat in what was a very close game for long periods. After 20 minutes the game was level at 0-0 but a poor 10 minutes saw the boys concede 4 goals,at the end of the 1st half. However the boys showed great determination and resilience in the second half creating lots of chances but an outstanding performance by the Tring GK was the difference between the 2 teams. Two fantastic goals from N Gibson were the highlights.

Comment : The boys put in a committed performance against strong opposition. A couple of defensive errors saw the boys trailing at the break but we came back well in the second half and battled extremely hard before finally going down to a 5-2 defeat. Special mention to A Ali who showed outstanding effort and spirit in an excellent defensive performance.

Year 7 Boys DISTRICT DIVISION 1 6-A-SIDE FESTIVAL @ Westfield  Mr Cartledge

Date : Monday 13th November 2023

Squad :

BMS A : O Phillips (Capt), O Woodbrock (Gk), C Allan,  A Cohen, Z Butler, D Isles, J Magkafourakis

Overall Winners

BMS B : N Gibson (Capt), D Henry (Gk) G Jabarkhail, D Mason, G Fogden, T Colby

3rd Place overall

Player of the Tournament : N Gibson

Comment : On Monday the Year 7 boys A team football squad played in the District Division 1 6-a-side Festival. The event featured teams from Grange Academy, Westfield and Reach Free Schools. Both of the BMS teams applied themselves really well in the group matches winning 2 games each and drawing 1 to both finish top of their groups. This kept the 2 BMS teams apart in the semi-finals with both playing the Grange Academy teams who had finished as runners-up in their groups. In the semis BMS B squad won 1-0 and BMS A lost 2-0. The 3rd/4th place play-off saw BMS A win 3-0 to finish 3rd overall. In the Final a very close game saw the 2 teams finish level at 1-1. In the penalty shootout that followed some excellent saves from D Henry and successful penalties from D Mason and G Jabarkhail saw the boys run out deserved winners. It was a great tournament with the BMS teams playing some excellent football throughout. N Gibson was voted the outright player of the tournament.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

U12 Powerleague Tournament @ Queens    Mr O’Kelly

Date : Wednesday 8th November 2023

Result : 4th Place

Squad : E. Gillett, P. Wills, B. Fowler, R. Oliveria, D. Towell, J-L. Jakeman

Commended performances : B. Fowler

Comment : A fantastic effort from the girls going through the league section of the tournament winning all of their games and qualifying as the first placed team from the pool. Going into the semi-final the girls came up against a strong St Michael’s team and despite creating many opportunities to score the shooting boots were not being worn for this game. Losing the semi final 2-1 meant that the girls did not make the final of the tournament and saw a team who we had beaten in the pool stage take their place in the final instead. A fantastic effort from all the squad and all can look forward to other games and tournaments later this year.

BMS V Reach Free: 8 – 0 Win

BMS V Rickmansworth: 3 – 3 Draw

Commended performances: Romaine – MVP, Josh Cuninngham for his leadership and tactical awareness on pitch.  Omekah Henry for his opening try against Queens school. Harry McManus for effort and hard hitting tackles throughout.

Comment: Some outstanding individual performances combined with an exceptional team effort meant the year 9 boys retained their undefeated run in this competition, winning the Watford district development festival for the second year running. Firing on all cylinders were our forwards; Josh, Romaine and Emekah with their unstoppable direct running. Combined with their supporting wingers Loui, Nathan, Harry H and Ronnie, who showed quick footedness and agility, the team were able to outwit even the most determined of opposition with ease. It was also a privilege to witness the selflessness of our defensive line; Frank, Zubin and Harry M, putting in their shift, with solid tackle after tackle which proved time and again like an impenetrable wall to anyone brave enough to test it. Well done to all the boys for taking part and showing great respect and responsibility throughout the tournament.

NETBALL

Year 11 Girls v Queens   (League)  Away    Mrs Cooper

Date : Wednesday 8th November   2023

Result : Won 22-14

Squad : A Chaudhry, E.Hauff, M.Cozens, E.Williams, S.Mullings, N.Donald, P.Pryra, E.Rogers

Commended performances: A.Chaudhry for a great performance in the shooting circle and M.Cozens for fantastic work up and down the court.

Comment: A fantastic team performance, again, from the year 11 squad. Outstanding in all areas of the court. The girls took an early lead against their local rivals and despite some fast paced and impressive play from the opposition managed to maintain their lead throughout the game. It was a real privilege to watch the girls playing this match, probably their best performance in their 5 years at Bushey Meads and testament to their commitment and hard work in training.  Well done ladies.

Year 7 Girls v Immanuel Yr 8b  (Friendly)  Away    Mrs Cooper

Date : Monday 13th November 2023

Result : R Grainger, Z Dunlop. L Mysiak, M Andronicou. K Shah, E Hughes, E Gillett.

Commended performances: Z Dunlop

Comment: This was a much closer game than the scoreline suggested. In a friendly fixture against girls in year 8 the BMS team acquitted themselves really well. In blustery conditions they worked hard all over the court and demonstrated good progress from their early games. Passing down the court was good with accuracy and power and the girls footwork was much better than their older opposition. With continued game practice they will go from strength to strength.  Well played everyone.

Year 8 Girls v Immanuel  (League)  Away    Mrs Cooper

Date : Monday 13th November 2023

Result : Won 7-6

Squad : J.Isles, M.Hurtya, S.Verrey, A.Permeti, M.Faulkner, B.Barnard-Collins, E.Yeboah, Y.Khan.

Commended performances: A.Permeti great work all over the court.

Comment: In a very close fought contest the BMS team came from behind to secure victory in this league fixture.  At half time the BMS team were losing by 2 but after a good team talk about more active defending they worked hard and turned the deficit around to take the lead going into the final quarter.  The final quarter saw goals traded at either end but the BMS team held on for a deserved victory.  Great work everyone.

Year 7 Girls v The Grange Academy   (League)  Away    Mrs Cartledge

Date : Tuesday 14th November 2023

Result : Lost 7-6

Squad :  R Grainger, Z Dunlop. L Mysiak, M Andronicou. K Shah, E Hughes, E Gillett.

Commended performances: E Gillett

Comment: This was a really close game right up to the final whistle. The girls started slowly with some passes that were intercepted by the Grange players. In the second quarter the girls came out with more attack and determination and by half time we were ahead by one goal. With tighter marking and improved passing the girls’ play continued to improve. Unfortunately in the last quarter the Grange managed to gain more possession in attack and went ahead by a goal. A fantastic determined performance with improvements in passing and defending throughout the game.
