After three months of creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning, the first round of Year 9 Enterprise Projects has officially come to an end and what a journey it’s been!
Every Year 9 student selected one of four exciting pathways within Design and Technology, giving them a valuable taste of potential GCSE subjects while building new skills and confidence along the way.
Computing
Students in computing stepped into the world of coding, learning the fundamentals of Python. Using the “Turtle” drawing tool, they brought code to life by creating eye-catching geometric patterns. In the second half of the project, they combined logic and creativity—using operators and inputs to reimagine and rewrite classic fairy tales. The results were both imaginative and technically impressive.

Textiles
The textiles group focused on designing activewear for teenagers. From researching fabrics and exploring the work of designers to understanding the full design to manufacturing process, students gained real industry insight. They also developed practical skills such as measuring, cutting patterns, appliqué, and machine sewing; all culminating in the creation of their own stylish shorts designed for a teenage client.
