Managing exam stress article

As we move through the academic year, assessments and exams can feel overwhelming for many students. A certain level of stress is completely normal and can even help with focus, but it’s important to manage it in a healthy way.

Stay organised
Keeping track of homework, revision topics, and exam dates can make a big difference. Breaking revision into smaller, manageable chunks helps avoid last-minute pressure.

Create a realistic revision routine
Short, regular study sessions are more effective than long periods of cramming. Make sure to include breaks and vary subjects to keep your mind engaged.

Look after your wellbeing
Sleep, nutrition, and exercise all play a key role in managing stress. Aim for a good night’s sleep, eat balanced meals, and take time to relax and recharge.

Use helpful revision strategies
Active revision techniques, such as flashcards, practice questions, mind maps, or teaching someone else, can improve understanding and confidence.

Talk about it
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t keep it to yourself. Speak to a teacher, tutor, or trusted adult. Support is always available.

Keep things in perspective
Exams are important, but they are only one part of your journey. Doing your best is what matters most.

We encourage all students to take a balanced approach, support one another, and reach out when needed. Together, we can make this a positive and successful exam period.

You’ve got this!
