Focussed Lessons in Science
Last Wednesday it was great to be able to pop into the science faculty and see students working so hard, really focussed on listening to their teachers and gaining those new skills and greater level of understanding about the topics they were studying.
In Head of Faculty Ms Booth’s class, Year 11 students were strengthening their knowledge about stars and preparing effectively for the upcoming GCSE exams, paying close attention to the expert knowledge that Ms Booth has – advising them about the key terms and exam techniques available to maximise their marks in the exam papers.
In Head of Physics Mr Newton’s class, Year 12 students were being expertly prepared to conduct an important practical experiment about laser light, capturing data about the light which included fringe width and was leading on to some related calculations. Students were listening intently and clearly highly motivated to do well in the lesson.
It was impressive to see.
