The Bushey Meads’ Get Ahead and Progress programme is now well embedded in the cycle of our academic year. Brilliantly led by Associate Leader Mr Abusef, the programme provides 20 creative learning and character-development based activities and projects for students to do over the summer holiday.
Research states that students can lose up to 30% of what they have learned in the previous academic year if they don’t continue to learn and remain active over the summer holiday period. The GAP programme keeps students’ brains active, challenges them over the month of August and opens their minds to new learning adventures. This prevents the dreaded Summer Slide!
Students can complete as many of the tasks and activities that they want to and collect reward points for all that they achieve and evidence on the GAP programme card, with supporting evidence (photos and work etc.). If they complete all 20 tasks they receive a top R6 Award and also get the op[portunity to go on an amazing reward trip to Thorpe Park.
