We are excited to share the launch of our Word of the Week programme for the 2026–2027 academic year. Over the course of the year, students will explore 21 tricky, commonly misspelled words through interactive games, quizzes, and weekly classroom practice.

Developing strong spelling habits helps improve students’ overall confidence and accuracy in written communication. You can support your child at home by reviewing each week’s word together and trying out some simple memory tricks.

Here are the three words we have focused on so far this term, along with the memory helpers to make them stick:

  1. BELIEVE
    • Memory Helper: There is a LIE in BELIEVE.
  2. NECESSARY
    • Memory Helper: Picture a shirt – it has 1 Collar and 2 Sleeves! (1 C, 2 Ss).
  3. DEFINITELY
    • Memory Helper: Look for the word FINITE right in the middle: DE-FINITE-LY.

We encourage you to test your child on these three words to help consolidate their spelling accuracy.
