Year 10 Work Experience Week

Last week all Year 10 students were off timetable on work experience placements that they had either sourced themselves or that had been organised by school.

It was a really positive experience to visit the students in their workplace and to receive amazing comments/feedback:-

Student Comments:-

– Thank you so much for organising this because I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the week and now I have a clearer idea of what I want to do in the future.

– I was really nervous but once I started there all my nerves disappeared.

– Thank you for arranging my work placement, I now have a part time job from it.

– I now realise I definitely don’t want to work in an office.

Employer Comments:

  • Merry Hill Infants School – The 4 girls fit in very well.  Their appearance was smart, they took direction well and were eager to give a little extra.  In fact, one of them was so keen she was at school considerably earlier than 8:30 helping to set up the room.  All the girls used their initiative and engaged really well with the children from Nursery to Year 1. Their maturity was commented on by several teachers.  The ladies are a credit to Bushey Meads. You must be very proud of them.  As a result of this positive experience, Merry Hill have agreed to support Y12 and 13 Childcare students with placements in September 2020.
  • Xtra Time – Your student was fantastic last week and didn’t check any challenge that we put forward to him. He engaged very well with the children and the tasks that were set for him. He was a credit to himself, his parents and his school.
  • WH Smiths – your student was a lovely boy, quietly confident and very meticulous with all the tasks he was set. We will be giving him a gift voucher at the end of the week as a reward for all his hard work.
  • Primark – the four students worked really well together, they were very helpful and hard working and we feel their confidence levels were improved greatly by the end of the week.
  • Cedars – the 2 girls were lovely, hard-working and very willing to complete all tasks given to them. They made great efforts to fit in to the industry with their appearance and hair styling.
  • TUI – Your student’s time-keeping and attendance during the week have been excellent and his performance as a young learner has been outstanding. I can safely say that he really has shown himself to be an excellent future engineer and more than just a pair of hands. He has been a massive help this week showing quality traits – he listens well, shows great skill, anticipates the next move and is an extremely hard working lad. He was a real pleasure to be with.
Well done to all the students for taking themselves out of their comfort zone and for being great ambassadors for our school.
