FOOTBALL
Y9 Boys v Roundwood Park (County Cup) AWAY Mr Burnell
Date : Monday 24th January 2022
Result : Lost 4-1
Scorers : A. Gates.
Squad : C. Tegzes, A. Gates, O. Spencer, I. Harry-Brown, N. Morka, D. Ansa-Otu, A. Fish, M. McManus, H. Cooper, K. Ford, G. Eldridge, S. Millberry, K. Tinriover.
Commended performances : A. Gates.
Comment: Monday saw the year 9 football team play their county cup quarter final fixture against a committed Roundwood Park side. The team started the game well and took the lead early on. Roundwood started to grow into the game and they drew level just before halftime. Roundwood started the second half where they left the first and scored two more quick goals to establish a two goal advantage. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be for the team, however they gave a good account of themselves to reach that far in the competition.
Y10 Boys v Rickmansworth (District League) AWAY Mr Symeou
Date : Tuesday 25th January 2022
Result : Won 3-1
Scorers : K Larkin, D Barbakadze.
Squad : C. Hughes, C. Sacikaran, A. Sacikaran, N. Mitchell, A. Clarke, D. Barbakadze, K. Larkin, L. Georgiou, J. Sims, C. Marriot, N. Bryan, F. Carpenter, B. Regan, H. Wafi.
Commended performances : K. Larkin, D. Barbakadze, J. Sims.
Comment: A solid performance from the year 10 boys. After a close first half, the boys were able to take control of the match in the second half J. Sims was a stand out performer with some outstanding tackling and dribbling. Overall a good solid win for the boys which keeps them in the race for the premier division final.
Y8 Boys v Futures Academy (District League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 26th January 2022
Result : Lost 6-0
Scorers : J Gladdy 4, J Coady 4, M Tregear 2, K Pamplona 2
Squad : J Gladdy, B Okeke, S Mowle, L Fearnside, J Allan, Z Watson, T Callaghan, A Worth, Z Bertie, R Christou-Totesaut, K Fung O Alao, L Johnson
Commended performances : R Christou-Totesaut, A Worth
Comment: With several players missing the boys were well beaten by a strong Futures team who have made the District League Cup Final. After a disappointing first half the boys showed good battling qualities in the 2nd half and also started to play more the of the passing football they showed earlier in the season.
BASKETBALL
SENIOR Boys v Grange Academy (District League) AWAY Mr O’Kelly
Date : Wednesday 19th January 2022
Result : Lost 50-27
Squad : M Keough, M Rutter, C Lynch, T Bates, A Kothary, K Tyler, L Fiordelisi, A O’Shea, N Haines, O Appa, J Johnson
Commended performances : M Keough
Comment: A much tougher opponent this week and although we stayed in the game for most of it, a 23 to 5 point score in the final quarter saw the opposition run away with the final result. More confidence in driving to the net is required at this senior level if the team wants to be successful.
SENIOR Boys v Westfield (District League) AWAY Mr O’Kelly
Date : Tuesday 25th January 2022
Result : Lost 42 – 35
Squad : M Keough, M Rutter, C Lynch, T Bates, A Kothary, K Tyler, L Fiordelisi, A O’Shea, N Haines, O Appa, J Johnson
Commended performances : Layton Fiordelisi
Comment: A closer game throughout, still that same problem of not scoring on enough of the team possessions really counted in the end of the game. Hopefully this can be corrected for the coming games.
Y8 Boys v Westfield (District League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Monday 24th January 2022
Result : Lost 17-12
Scorers : J Gladdy 4, J Coady 4, M Tregear 2, K Pamplona 2
Squad : J Gladdy, O Alao, A Dinu Juravle, A Linsdell-Turk, M Tregear, E Yilmaz, K Patel, W Towill, K Pamplona, J Coady
Commended performances : J Gladdy, J Coady, A Dinu Juravie
Comment: An improved performance by the Year 8 boys saw some much improved work on defence and in certain phases of the game more movement in attack. With improved composure in attack and some improved shooting the boys could have won the game. Lots of practice to do but great to see the boys working so hard for each other.
NETBALL
Year 7 v Immanuel (District League) Away Mrs Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 19th January 2022
Result : Lost 7-2 Immanuel Lost 2-1 v Grange Academy
Team : H Gascoignr L Dene, E Mullings, A Pointer, H Sookhoo, K Shah, N Olubodun,A Khan, A Belghiru, E Gjic
Commended performances : H Sookhoo for great effort in getting free and accurate passing.
Comment: In the first match the girls took a while to settle and get used to playing indoors. Immanuel were a strong side but the girls battled hard and began to improve their accuracy of passing and dodging. Unfortunately in the last half Immanuel were able to convert their shots and pulled away to win by 5.
In the second game the girls really played well and were stronger in both attack and defending skills. In particular Erika and Alyssa made some great interceptions in the circle to prevent shots. It was a very close game and a great effort by the girls.
