Year 7 v DISTRICT 6-A-SIDE FESTIVAL @ PARMITERS Mr Cartledge

Comment : The Year 7 6-a-side festival was a great opportunity for the boys to represent the school for the first time. The boys played some really good football and were unlucky to lose 3 games 1-0. Excellent performances against Westfield and Grange Academy were the highlights with both games being drawn. There were some really positive signs for the future with the team showing some good passing skills and great defensive work. Special mention to George G and Jack G who were particularly impressive on the night. Thanks to our new PE Apprentice Jack James for his help.

Year 9

Year 9 v DISTRICT 6-A-SIDE FESTIVAL @ PARMITERS Mr Harris

Comment : Year 9 Boys were able to represent the school again at a 6-a-side football tournament hosted at Westfield Academy. The boys played some excellent passing football throughout the tournament. Their first game was a tough game against Westfield Academy which ended in a 0 – 0. Following that were wins against Reach Free, Croxley Danes and Grange Academy with goals scored by David, Kyle, Finlay and Charlie and no goals conceded by Samarth in goal. The final game was a tough fixture against St Clement Danes School where David scored 3 goals and we came out 3 – 2 victory. There were some excellent signs of teamwork seen throughout the tournament by all players involved, as well as some positive and free flowing football. This was an overall great performance by the team where they came out as overall tournament winners. Well done to all involved!

WATFORD KICKs PROJECT – GIRLS PE

Girls in year 7 and 8 have been really lucky over the last 3 weeks to have received football coaching from Watford FC coaches as part of the Premier League Kicks project.

In one of their PE lessons each week ALL KS3 girls have been developing their football skills in fun and interactive drills as well as developing their fitness, self-esteem and working collaboratively.

“PL Kicks aims to inspire children and young people to achieve their potential and improve their wellbeing; working together to build stronger, safer and more inclusive communities.”

It has been lovely to see the girls participating with enthusiasm especially as they missed their regular football curriculum slot due to the pandemic.  We hope that in the new academic year this will inspire the students to attend football club so that we can once again begin friendly fixtures with other local schools.

Thanks go to Chloe, and her team from Watford, for all their hard work leading the sessions and giving the students the opportunity to participate.
