Result : Lost 29-7

Comment: Wednesday saw the year 10 students play their County Trophy game against a well organised Freemans Collage side. The game started very well for the team as they applied constant pressure in the opposition’s half but could not break through their well organised defence. The game then became scrappy with both teams turning over possession through unforced errors. As the game progressed Freemans College grew into the contest and opened the scoring close to half time. They then doubled their lead just before the break. The team started the second half in a similar vein to the first but this time were able to score to bring the scores within 5 points. However, Freemans collage again increased their own performance and found another way to break our defence down to score their third try of the match. As tiredness set in, Freemans Collage again got through our defence to score another two tries. Although the team lost there were some fantastic performances considering it was their first game of the season. Well done to all involved and plenty more to work on.
NETBALL
Year 9 Girls District netball tournament
Date : Thursday 23rd February 2023
Result : Lost 4/ Won 2. 5th place overall.
Squad: V.Hill, S.Doran, I Wijerathna, L.Qarib, I.Palan, , A.Gibson, E.Bird, L Winslett, Z O’Brart.
Commended performances : Z O’Brart for fantastic interceptions.
Comment : The girls faced some tough opposition in the district tournament but managed to retain close scores. For the majority of the play the girls demonstrated strong defending, shooting and movement on court. However our passing needed to be stronger to maintain possession down the court. A special thank you to A.Gibson for stepping in at the last minute to play in defence. A great effort by all and as always a pleasure to take the team.
Year 7 Girls v Croxley Danes (League) AWAY Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 22nd February 2023
Result : Lost 10-6
Squad : Y.Khan, E.Yeboah, M.Perkins-Faulkner, A.Permeti, S.Verrey, M.Huryta, J.Isles
Commended performances : M.Huryta
Comment: This was a really good game for the year 7 team, and although not the result they wanted they demonstrated some fine teamwork as well as good individual skills. A close first quarter saw C.Danes take an early lead they pulled away in the second and by half time BMS were chasing the game. With better shot conversion rates and tighter defensive work BMS managed to narrow the gap, winning the third quarter and drawing the last. A defeat but had the game been longer I feel sure we would have made the final result even closer. Well played ladies – next up the tournament!
Year 8 Girls v Croxley Danes (League) AWAY Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 22nd February 2023
Result : Lost 9-3
Squad : N Edirisuriya, R Chudasma, M.Rumney, E Mullings, A Belghiru, A Gibson,
V Melero
Commended performances : A.Gibson
Comment: The result of this match doesn’t reflect the game which was much more even than the scoreline suggests. The girls from both teams worked really hard throughout the game but unfortunately C.Danes were able to convert more of their shooting opportunities. The game was played in a really lovely spirit, competitive but friendly at the same time, and the BMS girls, as usual, were a credit to the school. Well done ladies, tournament next week.
