On Monday the 12th of February, we held the third student parliament meeting of the year and the theme was enrichment. There was a large number of students in attendance and a lot of good ideas were being shared. We started with discussing feedback from the last meeting and showing the changes that the student leadership team had made. This included adding PSHE in form time for sixth form students who asked for different activities than word of the week. Students also requested more classrooms being available at lunchtimes so we introduced clubs that are run by prefects such as debate club and board games club.
Each table then had to discuss the questions presented on the board about what enrichment days they enjoyed, what enrichment days they didn’t enjoy and what they would like to see more of in the future. There was a lot of positive discussion that helped us discover how the students feel about previous enrichment days and what they would like to do in the future.
A positive about previous enrichment days that was brought up to return was Mr Fisher’s enrichment day which would be the last one of the year. This entailed everyone in the school being able to pick a fun option to do for the day such as paintballing or go-karting.
A lot of students also said that they would like to do more physical activities on enrichment day, which will enable them to have some physical exercise but also some enjoyable time with their peers.
Thank you to all the students who came on Monday and contributed to the discussion and we hope to make the feedback become a reality.
