Student Leaders In Science

In science our 6th form student leaders have been helping out with some of our KS3 lessons. They have been performing a variety of tasks such as assisting the teacher to help students with work during lessons, giving one to one and small group support and helping with practicals. Some of our students have even taken on the daunting task of leading part of the lesson or performing a demonstration of an experiment to students.

The students in these classes are enjoying having 6th form students in their lessons and are making good use of the support that they give.

Having student leaders in lessons is working really well. All of our 6th form leaders are taking at least one science subject for their options. As well as them being an extra source of support for younger students in lessons, it also gives our lower school students a chance to talk to the 6th formers about their A level choices and what they are planning to study at university. This means that our KS3 students are developing an awareness of possible post-16 course choices available to them in the sciences.
