Encouraging Confidence
Deputy Headteacher Ms de Groot led a series of thought provoking assemblies this week on the Theme of the Week – Confidence.   She reminded students that confidence is strongly linked to competence, so working hard and making progress can help to build confidence in life – particularly when you are supported by good friends and family.
She asked the students to reflect on how confidence to do the right thing can create a positive learning environment – we all know how to behave in school and in lessons, but sometimes a small minority of students make the wrong choices which can disrupt learning for others.
She also reminded students to not ‘follow the crowd’ and to have the confidence to follow the Keys to Success at all times – making sure you turn up to lessons on time, wear all the correct uniform, have all the right equipment and always follow the One Voice rule and show respect to the teacher and your peers.
She reinforced to students the importance of aiming for 100% attendance each and every week and celebrated the fact that more and more students are achieving this week on week.
It was a great way to start the summer term here at BMS.
