New Beginnings
The start of a new academic year is always a chance to make a fresh start – to build on the success of last year and to address any areas of necessary improvement. Last week’s assemblies led by Assistant Headteachers Miss Silla and Mr Mitman encouraged all students to do this. The Main Hall was packed for the Sixth Form Assembly and I have been impressed with the way all our Post 16 students have started the year. Many ‘new to school’ students in Year 12 who have joined Bushey Meads from other local schools are already making great first impressions in their new setting.
Both senior leaders referenced the new BMS READY Behaviour Curriculum which is building strongly on last year’s Keys to Success. Still based heavily around our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships, the new curriculum and expectations clearly outline how all students need to behave both in and outside of lessons.
As parents and carers, make sure that your children are dressed in full school uniform, have a well equipped pencil case with a purple pen of progress to respond to teacher and peer feedback and are punctual to school and attending everyday.
