Kit
As another week passes by and we move closer to the winter months we are just taking this opportunity to remind students and parents about kit expectations. Sports kit is part of the equipment required for PE lessons in the same way that a pen, pencil and calculator is required for maths. It is essential that students bring the FULL correct kit for each activity they are participating in. On a recent Learning Walk whilst the standard of most students kit was excellent there are still some students who are not following the schools kit guidance. For all indoor activities students should be wearing the BMS yellow polo shirt, black shorts, white socks and trainers (Girls are allowed to wear BMS leggings only). For outdoor activities whilst the girls kit remains the same the boys should be wearing a multisports top and black/yellow BMS football socks for football/rugby type activities. When the weather gets colder a skin type under garment is also recommended. Girls are also permitted to wear plain black tracksuits bottoms. It is also essential that boys wear shinpads for football and a gumshield for rugby. This protective equipment is essential across all age groups to minimise the risk of injury in PE. Boys should also wear football with studs (can be moulded) for football and rugby activities. If there is any piece of kit/equipment parents are unsure about please contact me at school on cartledgea@busheymeads.org.uk
SPORTS REPORTS
FOOTBALL
Year 10A v Immanuel (District League) – Mr O’Kelly
Date : Tuesday 9th October 2018
Result : Won 6 – 2
Scorers : Reid Sims 4, Jalon Sotomy and Zac Khan
Squad : Jesse Harry-Brown, Archie Sykes, Harris Plant, Ben Castello, Leo Enright, Luke Andrews, Zac Khan, Irvine Tannor, George Rowe, Jalen Sotomy, Jay Marsh, Reid Sims
Commended performances : Reid Sims
Comment : A dominant performance that could well have risen into double figures had the finishing been better. With the opposition claiming two goals from sloppy defensive play the entire team was able to show greater physicality and dominated the opposition in 50/50s. Pleasing to get back to winning ways.
Year 9A v FC Academy (District League) – Mr Cartledge
Date : Monday 8th October 2018
Result : Won 9-2
Scorers : F Pierson 3, N Amoako 2, E Anthony 2, M Machen 2
Squad : M Machen, S Booth, N Amoako, E Anthony, M Chaudhury, C Lynch, M Keough, F Pierson, F Rowe, B Kabucho, A Kothary, T Barnes, H Khan, S Sabapathy
Commended performances : F Pierson, N Amoako, B Kabucho
Comment : After a lacklustre start the Year 9 boys got back to winning ways with a fine 2nd half performance to comfortably defeat the FC Academy team. Special mention to Frankie P and Bo K who put in excellent performances in midfield initiating the attacks with some excellent passing and moving.
Girls Football
U15 5 a’side District Tournament Mr Symeou

Result : Runners up
Squad : A Elman, L Kirby, K Branigan, B Brindley, L Roberts, S Parkhouse, N Srestha
Commended performances : A Elman, K Branigan, L Kirby
Comment : An outstanding effort from all involved, the team won 4 out of 6 group matches before progressing to the semi-finals. In the semi-final match, the girls showed excellent character to come back from a goal down to win 5-3. Unfortunately the girls lost in the final but it was an enjoyable day for everyone involved.
NETBALL
Year 8A v Westfield – Mrs Cooper
Date : Tuesday 9th October 2018
Result : Drew 10-10
Squad : G. Pugh, S. Lea, H., E. Clarke, M. Sanchez, F. Hadden, A. Choudhury, A. Wolstenholme
Commended performances : E. Clarke
Comment: This was a fast paced match which sometimes lost quality because of the oppositions franetic play. The BMS team worked hard and demonstrated the better levels of skill and were unlucky not to win. Using the space more effectively and more controlled passing are areas to focus on in training.
Year 7A v Westfield (a) – Mrs Cooper
Date : Tuesday 9th October 2018
Result : Win 26-0
Squad : R.Wheeler, R.Richards, C.Nwodo, H. Imansoura, G.Mitea, S.Hindocha, O.Hansen, Ka.Chandarana
Commended performances : O.Hansen voted for by the Westfield team
Comment: An even bigger WOW!! After an impressive first match the year 7 team went 3 goals further to secure another fantastic victory. Leading from the first minute they dominated their opposition with accurate passing into space, great signalling and moving and a fine display of shooting with all players switching positions this was great to see. Turnout at training has been excellent with over 20 students regularly attending and this result is reflective of everyone’s efforts.
Well done ladies.
