NEWS

This year we will be changing the rewards system for PE clubs and fixtures. With the requirement being for all students to participate in at least 1 hour of sport and physical activity a day to maintain a healthy mind and body we are looking to reward students for every sports club and team they participate in. In previous years we have awarded Sports Credits which have been converted into Reward Points on a termly basis. This year all attendance will be directly rewarded with any student attending a lunchtime or after school sports club receiving an R1 and any student representing a school team an R2. There are a wide range of clubs and teams which run throughout the year and students can keep up to date with what is going on by checking the desktop and the PE link on the school website. A particular reminder that lunchtimes offer the opportunity for recreational year sports clubs taking place with each year group having one lunchtime a week. These are a great opportunity for students to do some fun physical activity in their lunch breaks. Full details can be found on the extra-curricular timetable.

SPORTS REPORTS

FOOTBALL

Under 18 v Bushey Academy (District League)  HOME Mr Cartledge

Date : Thursday 26th September 2019

Squad : J James, A Hayes, C Atkinson, T Alade, l Fletcher-Gray, P Sanghasinha, E Fiordelisi, A Sykes, J Simmons, J Sotomey, C Boahsin Mensah, F Horastead, B Castello, J Billings

Commended performances : C Atkinson

Comment : It was a difficult start to the season for the U18 team with only a small pool of players to choose from. The boys battled hard to the end of the game but unfortunately too many errors in the first 20 minutes made the task very difficult.

Year 7A v Reach Free (District League) AWAY  Mr Burnell

Date : Monday 30th September 2019

Result : Lost 3-1

Scorers : G. Eldridge

Squad : N. Morka, K. Tinriover, C. Tegzes, A. Gates, S. Omar, G. Eldridge, J. Wright, S. Johnson, O. Spencer, I. Harry Brown, K. Gurney, A. Fish.

Commended performances : S. Johnson, G. Eldridge, K. Tinriover, C. Tegzes, J. Wright.

Comment : Monday saw the year 7A team play their second district league game of the year against a strong Reach free team. Reach Free started the game well with some excellent passing movements but were halted by some excellent defending or our own. We then created some excellent chances of our own but were unable to convert. Unfortunately we conceded just before half time and went into the break 1-0 down. We came out for the second half strongly as we looked to bring the scores level. However a deflected shot doubled the homesides lead. We then got a goal back through an excellent finish from G. Eldridge. Reach Free added a third just before the end of the game. Some excellent performances that the team can build upon for the rest of the league season.

Year 7A v Broxbourne (County Cup) AWAY  Mr Burnell

Scorers : S. Johnson

Squad : N. Morka, K. Tinriover, C. Tegzes, A. Gates, S. Omar, G. Eldridge, J. Wright, S. Johnson, O. Spencer, I. Harry Brown, K. Gurney, J. Bhatti, K. Gurney.

Commended performances : J. Wright, K. Tinriover, C. Tegzes, G. Eldridge,  S. Johnson, I. Harry Brown, A. Gates.

Comment : Wednesday saw the year 7A team play in the first round of the County Cup against a very strong Broxbourne side.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

U13s v Reach Free    AWAY Mr Symeou

Date : Monday 1st  October 2019

Result : 9-0 loss

Squad :

Commended performances : M Cozens

Comment : A difficult match for the girls as Reach Free moved the ball around with some good passing. It was a great learning experience for the under 13’s and many of them had their first opportunity to play a competitive football match.

U13s v St.Michaels    HOME Mrs Cartledge

Date : Thursday 3rd October 2019

Result : Lost 3-1

Scorers : S.Barrett

Squad : K Ashby, E Cloote, M Cozens, S Barrett, A Chaudhry, C Rutler, A Abraham, E Musgrove, K Doshi, E Pearson, M Gohil, A Newman

Commended performances : E. Pearson for her determined attacking play.

Comment : This was a tough game from the onset due to the strong attacking play from St Michaels. The girls defended well and managed to keep a 0-0 score for most of the first half. Sienna scored a great goal with an assist from Emmy. The girls battled well throughout the game and performances improved by all during the game. Well done Girls.

NETBALL

Year 9 v Reach Free (District League)  Away Mrs Wright

Date : Monday 30th September 2019

Result : Lost 20-14

Squad : S. Lea (captain), M. Sanchez, E. Clarke, A. Choudhury, E. Doody, A. Deutrom, M. Eldridge, L. Jackman, H Nabi, A. Wolsetnholme,

Player of Match: S Lea (Captain) for exceptional movement around the court and her interception of passes.

Comment : Despite the loss, this is the best I have seen the team play.  The opposition was tough, yet we matched them on attacking ability.  Unfortunately in the first quarter we lost one of our defenders as a result of an injury and had to re-juggle the team.  A Choudhury did really well to step up and play GD at the last minute. Our defenders progressed that much during the game that in the last quarter of the game we only conceded 3 goals; yet scored 7 against The Reach Free.  Our fitness was also exceptional and had we had the luxury of playing another quarter I think the result would have gone right to the wire! We will come back strong for our fixture against Queens next week. Looking forward to it already!
