The Preciousness of Time
Assistant Headteacher Mr Mitman reminded all students this week of the preciousness of time. In his main school assemblies he stated that time is almost priceless as, once it has gone, you can never get it back. He asked the students what they would do if every day they were given £86 400 and needed to spend it in a day, not able to carry it over to the next day. He suggested that we would spend it carefully. Comparing this to the number of seconds in a day, he encouraged all students to make the most of every second of each day.
He then gave some practical tips as to how we can maximise our use of time in school and encouraged everyone to be intentional and not drift through school in a casual way. Turning up on time, with the right equipment, listening carefully to the teacher and others in the classroom, trying hard and participating enthusiastically are simple ways that we can achieve success and use the precious time we have to its maximum.
He played a short, but powerful video made by one of our Year 11 students, which encouraged the younger students to make the most of their years in school so that Year 11, with all the pressure of exams and revision, is made a little easier.
Above all he reminded students that attendance matters: by turning up to school every day and using our time wisely we can achieve great things.
