The Power of Resilience

Assistant Headteacher Mr Mitman led a series of very important whole school assemblies this week on the vital subject of Resilience.

As much as we prepare for a straight path in life and success in all things, we know that life is not like that. Setbacks happen, the paths we take aren’t always smooth and easy, life happens! What we need to do is develop the resilience to keep going – even in the challenging times. When we fail we actually learn more and develop that all important growth mindset that helps us achieve even greater success.
Mr Mitman spoke about a life long friend Tom Aggar who suffered an accident at university which left him paralysed from the waist downwards. Instead of giving up he demonstrated great resilience and went on to become an amazingly successful olympic rower and achieved great success.
Mr Mitman also spoke about the need to attend school 100% of the time (even when you feel a little under the weather) and always follow those Keys to Success in lessons which make you a great learner.
I would like to thank all parents and carers for their ongoing support with the school’s drive to improve our students’ attendance and for the encouragement you give to your children to always follow the keys to success in lessons.
