The Power of Resilience
This week Assistant Headteacher Mrs Greenwood reminded all students of the importance of developing resilience as a core attribute in life. The Theme of the Week that underpinned all her main school assemblies this week tied in with the Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 entitled “This is My Place”.
She reminded students that resilience is like a muscle that needs building up and developing over time as we encounter and overcome various challenges in life and develop that ability to bounce back from difficult situations. In life we can’t always avoid problems but we can learn how to handle them and manage our emotions, growing stronger through them.
She also encouraged all students to develop positive networks of friends and family around them, to create a strong sense of belonging. Knowing that together we are stronger, she reminded everyone of the importance of good attendance to school – aiming for everyone to be here most of the time. Missed days equates to missed connections and every day in school is a chance to strengthen our sense of belonging, which in turn creates a greater momentum towards increased success in our lives.
Her assemblies were a great way to start each day in school this week.
