Keeping safe over half term

Half Term is Monday 16th February 2026 to Tuesday 24th February 2026, below are a few ideas to help keep yourself and others safe over half term.

If you are out and about always try to walk with friends, especially after dark, and avoid taking shortcuts, always let someone where you are and what time you will be back, it is really important that your parents/carers know where you are going and who you are with.

If you don’t feel uncomfortable in a situation, leave immediately, always have an exit plan, use only official transport, trains and buses.

If you have a phone, make sure it is fully charged and your location settings are switched on, keep it out of sight so that it doesn’t become a potential target for theft.

Keep yourself safe online, set social media profiles to private, cyberbullying can have a huge impact on how you are feeling, report or block threatening behaviour.

Time off away from normal routine can be unsettling/stressful for some, there are people out there to help such as Childline, Samaritans, Mind, Herts Haven Café.

Have a safe and wonderful half term.
