Recently the Year 11 history students visited the The Doctors Show, an interactive performance that tells the story of the development of health and medicine, directly related to their GCSE course. The show told the story of a thousand years of medical beliefs and practices, bringing to life the key events and people who shaped understanding of medicine and the human body. The show was a light-hearted take on mankind’s weird and wacky medical developments, complete with an on-stage explosion to keep the audience on our feet!
As well as acting out different developments over the centuries, the cast led the students in workshops to help understand how these stories related to their GCSE course. They broke down exam-style questions, offering students advice how they should approach these. The performers showed students past exam questions, then they unpicked these together to help students see how they would receive top grades. The show was a great way to bring the stories alive but also created an invaluable experience for students preparing for their exams in the summer.
