MFL Culture Day: Language journeys

As part of Culture Day, Year 7 students enjoyed  inspiring  language journeys sessions. The event was designed to celebrate linguistic diversity and spark curiosity about languages not taught at Bushey Meads.

Pupils rotated through a series of exciting ‘lightbite’ language sessions, each one offering a glimpse into a different part of the world. Mr Tahir introduced students to the beauty and structure of Urdu, while Mrs Visan brought the sounds and flavours of Italian to life, and Mr Newton took students on a whistle-stop tour of German. Miss Navqui introduced the elegance and precision of Japanese, leaving students both intrigued and enthusiastic to learn more. Students were also given a fascinating insight into the Malay language and its cultural significance.

Each session was a celebration of not just language, but the rich culture that surrounds it whether through music, traditional greetings, fun facts, or simple phrases. Students were eager to participate and we are grateful to both staff and students for making the languages journey sessions such a success. It was wonderful to see our pupils embracing new languages with enthusiasm and open minds.

We look forward to building on this experience in future events and continuing to show that language learning really can open doors to the world.
