Resounding Success in Raising Achievement

It was brilliant to welcome over 300 students, parents and carers to Wednesday evening’s Raising Achievement Evening in the Main Hall and hear such superb advice from Assistant Headteacher Mrs Till, Lead Practitioner Ms Bowe, Head of Science Ms Booth, Deputy Head of Maths Miss Timmons and Assistant Pastoral Manager Mrs Penny.

It is such a crucial time for our hardworking Year 11 students with Pre Public Exams (PPEs) starting after the upcoming half term holiday and the advice given will certainly stand them in good stead to do well now, and of course in the real
GCSE exams next May and June.

The evening started with the showing of a video of last year’s GCSE and A level results days and some inspiring interviews with students from last year’s exam cohorts, many of whom managed to achieve way beyond their aspirational target grades. The students interviewed on camera after opening their exam results envelopes gave really practical advice to all the students who attended the evening.

All in all the evening was a resounding success and all part of the many strategies being put in place for all our Year 11 students which included giving out some carefully prepared ‘goodie bags’ packed full of useful revision resources to support their important independent work at home over the next few months.

We wish all our Year 11 students every success this year and hope to celebrate with them next August.
