We were delighted to welcome back former Bushey Meads School student Nathan, who returned to share his experiences of studying Environmental Science at University.
Nathan spoke openly with our students about his journey from Sixth Form to university, providing valuable insight into higher education and the opportunities available beyond school. Having studied Geography and Mathematics at Bushey Meads, Nathan explained that although he enjoyed his subjects, he was not entirely certain about the career path he wanted to pursue while he was in Sixth Form. His message reassured students that it is perfectly normal not to have everything mapped out at a young age and that interests and ambitions can develop over time.
During his presentation, Nathan spoke enthusiastically about the fascinating range of topics he has studied at university, including Forensic Science, demonstrating the breadth and variety that Environmental Science offers. Students were particularly interested to hear how different disciplines often overlap and create exciting opportunities for learning and future careers.
Nathan also reflected on the skills he developed during his time at Bushey Meads. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, communication, resilience, and independent learning, explaining how these transferable skills have played a significant role in helping him succeed at university and adapt to new challenges.
His visit was both inspiring and informative, encouraging students to remain open-minded about their future pathways and to embrace the opportunities available to them throughout their education.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Nathan for giving up his time to support our students and share his experiences. We are incredibly proud of all that he has achieved and look forward to following his future successes.
