Comment : On Thursday last week an U18 football squad comprising of the boys studying the CTEC Sport course plus 2 students who studied GCSE PE entered the Watford FC 6-a-side tournament in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire. The tournament was aimed at promoting sports based qualifications. A very enjoyable afternoon of football played in the Watford FC training dome saw the boys acquit themselves really well and were extremely unlucky not to qualify for the semi-finals after somje very competitive group games. The boys were an absolute credit to the school and their conduct throughout was commended by the event organisers.

Stoke Mandeville National Junior Sports Festival

9 May 2026

Mr James

On Saturday 9th May 2026, 2 students from Bushey Meads embarked on an unforgettable adventure to the Stoke Mandivelle Stadium, and what a day it was! The event was hosted by Wheelpower and their primary focus was encouraging students who have certain disabilities to take part in a wide variety of sporting activities. Throughout the day students took part in various activities such as: Handcycling,Wheelchair racing, Boccia, Cricket, Archery, Athletics, Tennis, Golf, Rowing simulator and Fencing. All of the activities that the students took part in were always accommodating their needs to ensure they had a positive experience. We also had the pleasure of seeing Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, who was in attendance coaching young people in wheelchair racing.

The day was not only packed with activities, but it also gave students the chance to buildconfidence outside the classroom. Finally, as staff members we were especially proud of how respectful and engaged students were throughout the visit. The trip was a huge success and we hope to go again in the future.
