The Work of a Student Librarian

We are extremely lucky to have such a dedicated team of student librarians, led by Owen and Nathan from Yr13, who give up a breaktime each week to help manage the ever-increasing number of books being borrowed from our library.

This term, Year7 have been paired with more experienced librarians to train them in issuing, returning and shelving the books and allocated their own section of the fiction shelves to keep tidy.

In Library Studies lessons their help is invaluable, dealing with book loans while I can focus on the rest of the class, helping them find exciting suitable books to read. In addition, our Sixth Form students help chase up overdue loans by email so look out for a reminder if you’ve forgotten to return your book!

Now that we no longer have to stay in bubbles, everyone has access to the library at break, lunchtime, before and after school. We also have an adult fiction section and Sixth Form Library in LRC3 – so drop in and browse but please remember to get any books issued at the library desk.
