Year 9 trip to Seville

On Tuesday 2nd July, 36 Year 9 students who study Spanish, travelled to Seville in Andalucia, Spain, for a cultural and language trip.

We had an amazing time as every day was packed with fun activities. On the first day, as soon as we arrived, we dropped our luggage off at the hotel, and went to the flamenco museum where we also saw a very colourful flamenco show and learnt lots about this traditional dance. We then walked back to the hotel along the pretty winding streets, before having our first delicious dinner which included lots of Spanish specialities.
The next day we got up early and visited the stunning Grutas de Las Maravillas caves followed by a walk around the pretty town of Aracena. We then went swimming and had great fun! Later on we walked into the centre and saw the famous Metropol Parasol, a wooden structure that looks like mushrooms. It was so pretty as it was lit up and we sat on the steps and enjoyed the atmosphere with a musician playing Spanish music in the background.
The next day we visited the Real Alcazar, the historic royal palace in Seville, where we were fascinated by the detailed architecture and the Moorish influence around the palace. I loved walking through the magical gardens surrounded by fountains made of colorful tiles.  We also went to the Cathedral and learnt lots through our audio guides. There was also time for another splash in the swimming pool! In the evening we had fun cooking paella in a paella workshop and we then ate the paella for dinner. It was delicious!
On our last day, we sailed along the Guadalquivir river on a beautiful river boat and saw more famous monuments such as the Torre de Oro. It was so relaxing as we were really tired from all the walking! We then went to the local market where we bought Spanish food. After our picnic lunch in the Maria Luisa park we then sadly got on the coach to the airport. We had an amazing time in Seville and certainly learnt lots about the history of Spain and the Spanish culture and language.
