PE CONCEPT of the Week: Analysis/Feedback (HEAD) Miss Sunpongco
The BMS PE and Health Faculty are committed to promoting an active, healthy lifestyle amongst the BMS student population. In addition, we also aim to deliver a CONCEPT driven curriculum where the many varied aspects of the HEAD, HANDS, HEART assessment programme are delivered in lessons. Each week lessons have a CONCEPT which is delivered through a range of activities. This week’s concept is analysis and feedback.
Analysis and feedback are essential in PE as they help individuals improve their performance, technique, and overall fitness. By analysing movements and strategies, students can identify strengths and areas for development, allowing them to refine their skills. Feedback, whether from a coach, peer, or video analysis, provides constructive guidance that enhances learning and motivation. At BMS, we use regular analysis and feedback to foster continuous improvement, helping individuals track their progress and reach their full potential in both competitive and recreational sports.
In cheerleading, the Year 7 girls have used self analysis using videos to provide both positive and constructive feedback to refine skills, improve routines, and ensure safety for their individual group helping them perform with greater precision and confidence. Similarly, the Year 9s have used peer analysis to ensure each group is meeting key criteria to achieve high marks. This includes precise execution of movements, coordination with music, fluid transitions, and accurate use of equipment.
FOOTBALL
Year 7A Boys v Kings Langley (County Plate) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Wednesday 5th February 2025
Result: Lost 3 – 0
Scorers :
Squad: C. Dias (GK), F. Murphy, C. Killpack, B. Hemmings, N. Cunningham, J. Muraj, C. Vaughan, A. Hodgson, F. Slazak, T. Kearney
Commended performances :
Comment: Meeting in the latter stages of the county plate competition, we faced a big and strong Kings Langley slide. We eventually came away without the win in this game. We battled hard to create chances but failed to find the net in the end.
Year 10A Boys v Queens (District PREMIER League) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Thursday 6th February 2025
Result: Lost 3 – 1
Scorers: K. Banfield
Squad: J. Hiett (GK), L. Avci, H. Neal, H. McManus, F. Fowler, M. Donnelly, L. Bird, K. Banfield, R. Shinkwin, S. Ardeleanu, K. Gibson
Commended performances :
Comment: A difficult afternoon finishing with a loss vs Queens. A game which was very balanced except for a few moments on the counter attack lost us the game. K. Banfield scored a late consolation goal to give us one back but without enough time to get back into the game it ended in defeat.
Year 10A Boys v John Warner (County Plate) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Thursday 12th February 2025
Result: Won 5 – 3
Scorers: K. Banfield, K. Gibson (2), R. Cooper, N. Walters
Squad: J. Hiett (GK), L. Avci, H. Neal, H. McManus, F. Fowler, N. Konopka, L. Bird, K. Banfield, R. Shinkwin, N. Walters, K. Gibson
Commended performances :
Comment: A strong performance which started slow battling with a sloped pitch. John Warner took the lead with a long shot that whistled past J. Hiett, from that moment we managed to compose ourselves and get back to playing some decent football. We got the ball down and played, we managed to get ourselves in at halftime 1 – 1 with a finish by R. Cooper. In the second half we further cemented our lead making it 3 – 1, with two goals from K. Gibson. We then let our concentration slip and we conceded a penalty, followed by a mistake in defence which led to us losing the lead we worked hard for. After this, we managed to regain the lead with a header from K. Banfield coming from a cross off the left by H. McManus. Finally, sealed off with a penalty by N. Walters who calmly tucked the ball home after K. Gibson was fouled late in the game. A very good performance.
GIRLS FOOTBALL
U15 Girls v Westfield (League) Away Mr O’Kelly
Date: Wednesday 5th February 2025
Result: Won 3 – 0
Scorers: O. Issac 2, J. Frumuselu
Squad: A. Permeti, A. Baliguat, M. Huryta, J. Herman, Z. Chowdhury, J. Frumuselu, M. Hooper, T. Bracewell, O. Issac, B. Flower, R. Oliveria
Commended performances: O. Issac & M. Huryta
Comment: A very strong performance from the squad, limiting the opposition to only two chances in the whole game. Secure in possession and pressurising the opposition defence led to a convincing victory. The girls should be very proud of their performance and with two wins for the season now, they can look forward to their next game.
U13 Girls v St.Margarets (League) Away Miss Sunpongco
Date: Wednesday 12th February 2025
Result: 2-2 draw
Scorers: A. Mckenzie and D. Towill
Squad: B. Fowler, A. Mckenzie, D. Towill, R. Oliveira, F. Shire, E. Bain, E. Jacks, J. Blowers and F. Sheward
Commended performances: R. Oliveira for good performance in goal and on field. Well done to F. Sheward, E. Bain and J. Blowers for stepping up in goal.
Comment: It was a great afternoon for the year 7s and 8s against St Margarets. Their communication has improved massively as the season has gone on and this has definitely impacted the on field performance for the best. The girls had a really positive mindset coming to the game and were eager to score some goals – in which they did. All players were pushing up the pitch to secure the lead but just not enough to keep this throughout the second half. Onto the next and we keep the same attitude and get some more goals! Well done girls!

Year 8 Boys v CROXLEY DANES (District League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date: Tuesday 11th February 2025
Result: Won 24-18
Scorers : . E Silver 12, Z Butler 6, R Samin 4, D Isles 2
Squad: E Silver, J Huryta, R Samin, C Holt, Y Mushtaq, D Isles, Z Butler, J Magkafourakis, O Phillips
Comment: The Year 8 boys made it 2 wins out of 2 with a good victory over Croxley Danes. The boys trailed in the first quarter but a really strong second quarter with E Silver driving confidently into the basket saw the boys move into the lead at half time. The boys controlled the second half and with greater shooting accuracy would have been more comfortable winners. Special mention to Z Butler whose ability to perform left handed lay-ups has added an extra dimension to the teams offence.
NETBALL
Year 11 Girls v Reach Free (League) Home Mrs Cooper
Date: Monday 10th February 2025
Result: Won 9-7
Squad: M.Baines, M.Bazile, L.Qarib, L.Winslett, E.Birs, V.Hill, S.Doran
Commended performances: Everyone – the weather was hideous! Special mention to S.Doran nominated as the opposition’s Player of the Match.
Comment: A very wet and Miserable Monday afternoon for the year 11 teams final game at B.Meads, sad in all respects except for the scoreline which was a great victory! In a closely contested game the girls took a narrow lead after the first quarter but struggled to pull away further as both teams battled ‘the slippy ball’ conditions. The game was played in a really lovely atmosphere with both teams competitive but respectful of their opponents. With the score at 7-6 going into the final quarter the BMS girls had a little pep talk and decided they needed to secure victory in their last game as a squad. They managed to pull away at the start of the last quarter before Reach Free tried to reduce the gap albeit not quickly enough.
It has been a pleasure working with these young adults for the past 5 years, their commitment, attitude and positivity embodies everything that is right about sport.
Wishing you luck in the future ladies.
Year 7 Girls v Reach Free (League) Away Miss Sunpongco
Date: Monday 10th February 2025
Result: Loss
Squad: A. Bateman, V. Delemnska, E. Bain, J. Hearn and F. Sheward
Commended performances: All of them! Special mention to F. Sheward for being chosen POTM and working great in circle defence all by herself!
Comment: The girls faced a tough challenge, playing with only five players in extreme weather conditions. Battling through rain and cold, they showed incredible resilience, working tirelessly to cover the court and support each other. Despite the difficulties, they defended brilliantly, keeping the opposition’s lead as low as possible. A truly determined team – well done girls!
Year 8 Girls v Reach Free (League) Away Miss Sunpongco
Date: Monday 10th February 2025
Result: Loss
Squad: D.Vinoth, Y Loku-Galapathige, B. Knight, Z. Dunlop, E. Gillett, R. Hussain, and S. Cerri
Commended performances: All of them! Special mention to E. Gillett chosen as opposition’s POTM.
Comment: It was a very wet and windy afternoon for the Year 8 girls, but they showed impressive resilience in challenging conditions. Despite the rain and gusty winds, they pushed through, maintaining focus and determination. Their dedication in training is clearly paying off, and it was evident in how they handled the challenges on the court with confidence and determination. Welcome to B.Kight to your first match and scoring your first goal! Well done girls and lets take our determination to the tournament!
Year 10 Girls District tournament (League) Away Mrs Cartledge
Date: Tuesday 11th February 2025
Result: 6th Position
Squad: A Gibson, A Belghiru, R Chudasma,H Sookhoo. N Edirisuriya, H Spendlove, A Permeti. E Yeboah
Commended performances: A Permeti for excellent movement and interceptions on court. A Gibson for excellent movement in the circle and consistent shooting
Comment: This was a tough tournament for the girls not only because it was so cold but the opposition was very strong. After a slow start the girls gathered momentum and got closer to winning some games. The game against Croxley Danes ended 5-4, we lost but play had improved and the girls were gaining more confidence. In the last game we won 5-4 against Clement Danes. This was their best performance and it was great to finish on a win. A special mention must go to A.Permeti and E Yeboah for playing up a year and performing with such determination and impressive netball skills. A big thanks must go to Mrs Cooper who single handedly ran three tournaments. Many positive comments were made by the other PE staff on how the tournament was organised so brilliantly.
