Italian Cultural Trip

A group of lucky year 9 and 10 students had the opportunity of a lifetime when they embarked on a trip to Naples, Italy over the easter break. The students were able to immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of the city, while also exploring its culinary delights.

One of the highlights of the trip was a cooking class in which the students learned how to make gnocchi. The class was held in a traditional Neapolitan kitchen, where the students were able to learn about the history and traditions of the dish. Under the guidance of an experienced chef, the students got their hands dirty and worked together to create their own delicious gnocchi from scratch. The class was not only educational but also a fun and interactive experience for the students.

After the cooking class, the students also got the chance to learn about another famous Italian delicacy: gelato. In a separate class, the students learned how to make their own ice cream from fresh, local ingredients. They got to experiment with different flavours and techniques, creating unique and delicious treats that they were able to enjoy afterwards.

Of course, no trip to Naples would be complete without a visit to the ancient city of Pompeii and the towering Mount Vesuvius. The students were able to explore the ruins of Pompeii and learn about the city’s tragic history. They also had the opportunity to hike up the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, where they were rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Finally, the students took a ferry to the stunning island of Capri, where they were able to soak up the sun and enjoy the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The island is known for its stunning views, vibrant culture, and delicious seafood cuisine.

Overall, the trip to Naples was an unforgettable experience for the students. They were able to learn about the rich history and culture of Italy, while also exploring its delicious cuisine. The trip was not only educational but also a fun and exciting adventure that the students will remember for the rest of their lives.

Parents of year 8 and 9 should have now received information about the tour May 2024. Looking forward to seeing you there
