It was a privilege to join Mr Tahir’s Year 11 class last week and see how well the students were engaging in their learning and making progress with the quite complex topic they were studying. From the work in their exercise books, which was well presented, it was clear that they were taking pride in their work and had the appropriate notes to revise from for any upcoming tests, Pre Public Exams or GCSEs taking place next year.
The ‘Do Now’ starter activity built on their prior learning from the previous lesson, but also had an element of stretch and challenge which a number of students were keen to complete.
Mr Tahir made very good use of mini whiteboards to check progress towards the end of the lesson and it was great to see a number of students really feel they had made good progress in understanding some of the complexities surrounding hydrocarbons and their chemical structures.
I would like to congratulate the Year 11s for making such a good start to their final GCSE year and wish them every success in the coming months.
