CNAT Sports Studies/ASDAN Sport trip

The new Year 10 CNAT Sports Studies group enjoyed a great trip to the Lee Valley White Water Centre this week to support their coursework tasks. The water park is the closest Olympic venue from the London 2012 games and is a training hub for Team GB kayaking and canoeing teams.

The group completed a 1 hour kayaking session with the site instructors followed by a 1 hour paddlieboarding session. This is part of the Outdoor and Adventurous activities unit the boys are about to start on the course. It was great to see the boys trying new activities in testing conditions. All the the boys were a credit to the school and we look forward to further trips in the future.

FOOTBALL

Commended performances : Whole team !

Comment : A much improved performance saw the boys record their first win of the season with a well deserved 3-0 win over Reach Free. The boys dominated the game for long periods and this time found the goals they needed. Two well taken finishes from M Darvesh in the first half gave the boys a half time lead and the boys then controlled the second half with K Mistry adding to the goals tally. Special mention to L Bird, S Mowle and N Konopka who had excellent games in defence.

Year 9A Boys v Parmiters B (District League) HOME  Mr Moxon

Date: Thursday 1st October 2026

Result: Won 6-2

Scorers: J. Muraj (2), N. Cunningham (2), A. Nguyen, A. Joslin,

Squad: R. Gurney (GK), J. Muraj, A. Hodgson, A. Nguyen, B. Rusi, G. Bees, D. Hope, A. Joslin, B. Stanley, C. Kilpack (Capt), R. Olaoluwa, T. Muranaka, N. Cunningham, C. Vaughan, R. Sharman.

Commended performances: J. Muraj, A. Hodgson, A. Joslin, A. Nguyen, N. Cunningham.

Comment: The year 9 boys started strongly, seeing most of the ball in the opening stages and were rewarded with an early goal. Soon after Parmiters equalised, pegging us back to 1-1 before a free kick from distance from J. Muraj found the top left corner, giving us a 2-1 lead at the break. After feeling that we should have been more goals ahead at half time the boys took their game to the next gear, with strikes from A. Nguyen, A. Joslin, N. Cunningham and another free kick from distance from J. Muraj finding the back of the net! Parmiters added a consolation goal towards the end of the game but we came away with a 6-2 win, leaving the boys sat top of the league halfway through the season sat on 7 points!

Year 8A Boys v Parmiters (District League/County Cup) AWAY  Mr Harris

Date: Monday 5th October 2026

Result: 2 – 2 League & lost County Cup on penalties

Squad: B. Augustine (GK), G. Mulholland, A. Mair, S. Parmar, S. Scott, M. Inch, F. Neal, T. Milson, E. Muslu, J. Pearson, O. Harper, G. O’Dea

Commended performances: ALL

Scorers: E. Muslu, T. Milson

Comment: A double header this evening with the boys facing off against Parmiters in the county cup along with the league. Played on Astro; this is some of the best football these boys have played since starting in year seven. The boys were well up to this game, as they fluently passed the ball around the pitch, working it from side to side, causing Parmiters to really struggle to get a foot hold in the game. Despite this strong start, we actually fell behind early from a loose ball that was scored on the counter-attack. But that didn’t stop the boys from working the ball around well and scoring not long before halftime through a one-on-one finish by E. Muslu. In the second half, we took the lead through a goal from T. Millson. It wasn’t until the last 10 minutes of the game that we ended up conceding from a free kick out the back post, where we failed to win our headers. A strong performance in the league game and cup game from these boys, battling hard and generally playing really unselfishly across the whole pitch. Unfortunately, in the county cup we fell on the penalty shootout. One of the top performances from the boys since I started coaching them in year seven, showing action and progression and maturity on the pitch.

Year 10 Boys v Futures Academy (District League) AWAY  Mr Cartledge

Date: Monday 5th October 2026

Result: Lost 7-2

Scorers: D Mason 2

Squad: O Phillips, O Woodbrock (GK), M Rawlings, D Mason, G Jabarkhail, W Reynolds, C Allan, Z Butler, C Holt, G Fogden, D Henry, A Cohen

Commended performances: G Jabarkhail

Comment: A really disappointing second half cost the boys after battling their way back into the game in the first half. The boys missed 2 early chances to take the lead and were punished by 2 quick Futures goals. However the boys battled back and found themselves 3-2 down at the interval after some spells of really good football. A disastrous 5 minute spell in the 2nd half saw the home team score 3 quick goals and the heads drop of the BMS players. Much improvement needed next time.

Under 15 Girls v St Michael’s AWAY Miss Sunpongco

Date: Thursday 1st October 2026

Result: Lost 2-0

Squad: S Henry (GK), A Baliguat, A Permeti, E Gillett , F Shire, F Sheward, J Blowers, N Browne, A Karakushi, M Gibson and S Fintinariu

Commended performances: S Henry and E Gillet for some great saves!

Comment:  A huge well done to the team for their first game of the season! Bringing together players from Years 8 to 11, it was a tough first test on a bigger pitch none of the girls have played on previously. Despite the loss, it was a really even game throughout. The girls fought hard for every ball and backed each other up from start to finish showing fantastic team spirit and constant support. Special shouts out to S Henry and E Gillet for making some fantastic saves, and a huge thank you to our Year 8s for stepping up and putting in a brilliant effort! Well done and onto the next!
