Last week, a small group of our Year 9 students had the exciting opportunity to visit Graduate Fashion Week in London, where they experienced the creativity and innovation of the UK’s next generation of fashion designers.
The highlight of the day was attending the graduate fashion show, which showcased an incredible collection of garments created by talented final-year fashion students from universities across the country. From bold, experimental designs to beautifully crafted contemporary collections, our students were inspired by the originality, craftsmanship and passion on display. It was a fantastic insight into the possibilities within the fashion industry and the journey from education to a professional career.
Students also took part in a fashion illustration workshop, where they explored different sketching techniques and had the chance to develop their own creative ideas. The workshop encouraged them to experiment with fashion drawing while building confidence in expressing their designs on paper.
Throughout the day, students were able to explore the university exhibition stands, where institutions from across the UK showcased their fashion courses, graduate portfolios, sketchbooks and final collections. This gave students a valuable opportunity to see the creative process behind a fashion collection and learn more about studying fashion at university.
The visit was an inspiring experience, giving students a real insight into the exciting world of fashion design while encouraging them to think about future creative pathways.
