Arts Award Highlights
As part of their arts award, year 11 students must experience an arts event of their choosing to review. Bethany in year 11 went to see Isabel LaRosa on tour in december and has these thought:
“Attending Isabel LaRosa’s concert on the 2nd of December was an inspiring experience that influenced me both as a guitarist and as a creative artist. Her performance showed how atmosphere and emotion can be more powerful than technical complexity, with guitar parts that were minimal but effective, using tone, reverb, and space to support the mood rather than overpower it. This encouraged me to rethink my own guitar playing, focusing more on dynamics, texture, and intention instead of just technical skill. The openers also added to the experience in different ways; Thomas LaRosa’s set felt raw and personal, highlighting how honest songwriting and simple arrangements can create a strong connection with the audience, while SNOW WIFE brought a high-energy, confident performance that demonstrated the importance of stage presence and individuality. Together, the performances showed me how different artistic approaches can be equally effective, inspiring me to experiment more with tone, performance style, and emotional expression in my own music.”
-Bethany, Year 11
