GCSE Art Exam Days Showcase Creativity and...

On Thursday 16th and Friday 17th April, our GCSE Art students completed their final exam pieces, bringing weeks of preparation and development work to life. Over the two days, the art rooms were filled with focus, determination, and an impressive range of creative responses.

All students were responding to the externally set theme of ‘Found’, provided by Edexcel. This open-ended title inspired a wide variety of interpretations, allowing students to explore personal ideas and meanings within their work.

Students approached the exam with confidence, each interpreting the theme in highly individual ways. The outcomes reflected a wide variety of ideas, from detailed observational work and expressive painting to mixed media pieces and thoughtfully constructed compositions. It was clear to see how much time and care had gone into both the planning and execution of their final pieces.

Throughout the exam, students demonstrated resilience and independence, managing their time effectively while refining and developing their work. The atmosphere was calm yet purposeful, with everyone fully engaged in realising their artistic intentions.

The diversity of outcomes was particularly striking, highlighting not only the students’ technical skills but also their ability to think creatively and take risks. Each piece told its own story, showcasing personal interests, influences, and artistic growth.

These exam days marked an important milestone in the students’ GCSE Art journey. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, creativity, and commitment, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements at our upcoming annual art exhibition on the 2nd July!
