The Parent Forum met this week to discuss key developments across our school community. Here are a few of the actions and discussion points from our latest session:
Homework Visibility: We discussed the new weekly homework summary on Google Classroom which aims at ensuring parents stay informed about student assignments. Do let us know if you aren’t able to access this.
Parents’ Evening Consultation: Following a survey of nearly 150 parents, we are reviewing the balance between online and in-person evenings. While opinions are split, we are exploring ways to improve our parents’ evenings and will feedback to all parents on the outcome of the consultation in due course.
Revision Support: Year 8 student revision workshops are scheduled for 30 April. To help students prepare for all KS3 end-of-year exams, topic lists have been redistributed via Google Classroom.
School Trips: To make trip bookings fairer, the school is moving toward a 6:00pm release time on ScoPay and investigating a lottery system for high-demand trips.
Canteen Standards: In response to feedback regarding healthy eating, our catering partner, Innovate, will soon provide a summary detailing how their menus meet nutritional requirements.
Attendance & Pastoral Care: The forum also discussed ongoing strategies to improve student attendance and welcomed the proposal for a future parent workshop focused on mobile phone use which will coincide with our parent assemblies during Mental Health Week (week beginning 13 May – more details to follow).
We would like to thank our parent forum representatives for their continued insights and partnership. Do look out for the opportunity to be part of this small group forum next academic year.
