Student of the Week
Student of the week 12 Sycamore
15/10/25 12 Sycamore Kian P Kian is punctual and is a role model for the other students. He consistently engages in our CDC activities.
Skin Deep Theatre Company
On Wednesday we welcomed the Skin Deep Theatre Company into school. Year 9, 10 and 11 watched their performance which tackled some hard hitting themes affecting the lives of teenagers.
Key Messages included:
- Violence: protectionism and knife crime.
- Danger of carrying a knife
- Racism
- Drugs
- Grooming and Exploitation: how gangs’ function and the consequences of membership.
- County Lines
Outline of the performance
Denny’s home life is troubled. She is the daughter of a single parent mum who struggles with a drug addiction, meaning Denny is often left without money or food. When Denny is groomed into a gang by an older man, it’s no surprise she’s easily influenced into doing what he wants.
Audiences witness as Denny begins carrying a knife for protection. Leading to a life changing event for Denny and those close to her. Based on true events, this hard-hitting show immediately connects with students through compelling dialogue and rap music.
Skin Deep are working alongside the Hertfordshire Constabulary supporting their Lives Not Lives project.
