Behaviour Review and Continued Improvement

Following our Ofsted inspection in January 2025, we invited a County Education Behaviour Adviser to visit Bushey Meads and carry out a behaviour review. The aim was to gain an external perspective and gather further insights and recommendations to support ongoing improvement in Behaviour and Attitudes.

During her visit in June, the adviser collected a wide range of evidence, including discussions with key stakeholders, observations throughout the school day, tours of the site, and a review of relevant policies, curriculum information, and behaviour data.

We received her report at the start of September and were pleased to see that it recognised significant progress over the past year. She commented that “staff show a strong understanding of the importance of behaviour and its impact on pupils’ learning… and have a shared commitment to continually improving practice… and meeting the diverse needs of pupils.” She also highlighted the “positive relationships observed around the school and the calm, orderly atmosphere during transition times.”

The report praised the recent strengthening of our pastoral support through the appointment of additional pastoral managers, enabling more targeted and responsive care. It also acknowledged the work of the behaviour working party, a group of over 20 staff members collaborating to drive meaningful improvements.

The review concluded with several recommendations, many of which have already been implemented or are now embedded in our behaviour strategy for the year ahead.

This review was part of our ongoing commitment to improvement, approached with openness and a genuine willingness to reflect and grow. We remain dedicated to working collaboratively—with parents, staff, and the wider school community—as we continue to foster a purposeful and inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
