Moving On
Moving On was the theme of the week this week and underpinned the messages given out in our main school assemblies delivered by Mrs Ash, Head of Standards, Safeguarding and SEND. All students are aiming to end the year well and are also thinking about the year ahead – everyone moving on to a different year group with its unique opportunities and challenges.
Above all it is time for everyone to reflect back on the year that has passed and work out what could be improved to ensure continued success over the coming months. As Mrs Ash reminded us, it’s about making progress, a new start, changing for the better, advancing and positively developing.
She also reinforced the expectation to attend school as much as possible – great attendance supports great success. Everyone should be aiming for 98% attendance and nothing less than 95%. As well as that she outlined the new Attitude to Learning Scale from 1 – 4 (everyone should aim to score 4 – outstanding!) being implemented on the new style reports next year and being published at the end of each term. Finally she reminded all students that the purple pen of progress is their key to uplevel and improve their work on an ongoing basis – responding to teachers’ feedback to ensure good and sustained progress over time.
Moving On is inevitable so let’s embrace the new year ahead and make it even better than the one that has just passed.
