This week, we were delighted to welcome back Dilan, one of our former students who completed their studies at Bushey Meads School two years ago. Now thriving at Middlesex University, he returned to share his experiences with our IT and Computing students, providing valuable insights into university life and his journey into the field of cybersecurity.
The session was both inspiring and enlightening for students and for myself alike. It highlighted how the knowledge and skills being taught at Key Stages 4 and 5 are directly relevant to higher education and career pathways.
Dilan reflected on how the topics that we cover in Year 11 and Year 13 IT classes have significantly contributed to his current academic pursuits. This reaffirmed the importance of what we deliver in the IT curriculum, showing students how their hard work today can directly influence their future success.
The visit also gave students the chance to ask thoughtful questions about cybersecurity qualification, the university experience, and life beyond Bushey Meads. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made the session even more impactful. It was encouraging to see how engaged the students were, as they explored the possibilities of pursuing similar paths.
We look forward to welcoming more alumni back to their home department in the future, as their stories serve as a powerful reminder of what our students can achieve with dedication and ambition.
