The Rhythm of The Night

The Rhythm of The Night
Just before the February half term, we celebrated the creative arts here at BMS which you can read about more extensively in Miss. Dolan’s article in last week’s edition of Bushey Meads News.
As part of this week long festival, four of our most experienced and decorated sixth form students (Gabriella, Aaryan, Kita & Sophie) planned and hosted a gala performance featuring songs from various famous musicals. Entitled ‘The Rhythm of The Night’, this revue afforded students across all of the year groups the opportunity to take ownership of their performances by allowing them to choose their own songs/scenes from musicals that they themselves enjoyed.
This made for a wonderfully varied show in which our resident performers could flex their skills not only in the performance itself but in the creation process as well, having control of direction, choreography, costume and technical effects.
We saw fresh and exciting offerings from upcoming actors, singers and dancers in KS3 as well as refined performances from our GCSE and A-Level students.
There were a few emotional moments where it was evident that we were potentially watching a “swansong” as some of our students are preparing to move onto pastures anew in the summer. However, it can certainly be said that they have done their part in inspiring the new generations that are looking to rise and one day stand in their place. We thank you all for everything you have done.
It truly is wonderful to see the culture returning to the creative arts in the wake of the pandemic and I, for one, am very excited to see what the future will bring.
