Tobias’s Journey of Joy, Gratitude and Connection in Africa

Tobias’s Journey of Joy, Gratitude and...
It is a great joy for us to share with you a glimpse of Tobias (10B) recent experience in Africa.

In early November, Tobias and his family travelled with an organized group from Betleem Church in Watford for a short but impactful visit to Zambia and the surrounding areas.

One of the most memorable parts of the trip for Tobias was visiting several schools. He stepped into classrooms and even the school library, speaking with the children about the subjects they study and observing the conditions in which they learn. Tobias learnt that some children walk incredibly long distances each day just for the chance to learn.

His journey also brought him in contact with children who have special needs. Tobias did his best to communicate – sometimes even through sign language – doing whatever we could to let them know they were seen, valued, and cared for.

Tobias also visited a local orphanage, where children who have been abandoned and later found by the community receive shelter, care, and love. Their stories were difficult, yet their smiles were unforgettable.

There was also dedicated time to meet with teenagers, holding discussions on topics relevant to their age and daily challenges. Throughout all visits, the group offered the children and teens small hygiene items and sweets—simple gifts that brought joy and opened doors for conversation and connection.

Tobias’ experience in Africa was truly life-changing. It taught him to appreciate what we often take for granted and to be more grateful for the opportunities we have.
