STEM Projects Impress HCC Director of...

Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome the Hertfordshire Director of Education, Mr Fitzpatrick to visit our Computing Department. It was a real privilege to showcase our STEM projects taking place across the Trust.

During the visit, we were joined by Year 3 and Year 4 pupils from LRS, who took part in two STEM workshops led by our STEM Ambassadors.
One group of pupils took part in designing a Dance Party AI edition in the F5 classroom, led by our STEM Ambassadors Sameer and Chloe. The second group of pupils worked with the Sphero Bolt robots in F4, navigating the robots through a range of mazes that the pupils had designed themselves.
The pupils had a wonderful time and demonstrated excellent teamwork and creativity throughout both activities. It was a pleasure to see such high levels of enjoyment throughout the STEM activities.
I also took the opportunity to speak in detail with the Director of Education about the wide range of STEM cross-phase projects we have delivered across the Trust.
He was particularly impressed by the Soaring to Success programme we ran a couple of years ago, as well as how we use Sphero Bolt to teach coding to younger pupils in a fun and accessible way.
We rounded off the term with a short STEM Ambassadors meeting, taking a moment to celebrate the hard work, achievements and dedication shown throughout what has been a long and productive term.
Finally, I would like to thank Ms Bacon and Mrs Young whose support played a key role in making the STEM workshops such a success.
