Arts Faculty Round Up
Wow!!…..What a term it has been. Whilst many schools ar winding down towards the end of the year, students and staff in the arts faculty here at BMS have been working exceptionally hard to produce an action packed end of term.
Following some great work completed by our GCSE and A-level students towards their final exams across all of the arts subjects, we were then treated to an exhibition of cross-curricular work from across the trust in our art gallery. It’s exciting to see the artistic talent we can look forward to developing in the future.
The dance department have been involved in choreographing fashion shows and running workshops, but the highlight has to be the multi-trust dance academy which was set up earlier in the year. Watching our best BMS dancers dancing alongside talented students from Little Reddings and Hartsbourne was a joy.
We have also enjoyed sharing our GCSE and A-level Art, graphics and photography work with parents, staff and the governing body and  launching the multi-trust band through their first public performance this week.
We have continued to develop links with Little Reddings and Hartsbourne within the arts through an incredibly successful performance involving every year 6 student from within the trust. Earlier, in June, we witnessed an hour of dance, drama and music organised by Bushey Meads staff but run entirely by the year 6 students themselves!!
Towards the end of term we have had our year 7 students perform short theatre in education plays to next year’s intake on year 6 induction day. It was so rewarding to see our year 7s then take the lead in delivering drama workshops to so many eager young actors.
And it did not stop there….
This week has seen Hamlet performed by Bushey Meads Theatre Company and our new Emerging Stars Company to excellent reviews. These students have worked exceptionally hard to produce an exciting promenade production set in the 1980s that wowed both parents on Tuesday and primary schools earlier in the day.
Well done to everyone involved. I look forward to seeing if we can top all of this next year!
