Inspirational Performing and Visual Arts...
Conducting a joint learning walk around some of our Performing and Visual Arts classrooms on Wednesday afternoon of this week was a really inspiring moment in time. In music the first rehearsal of our newly formed Bushey St James Trust Orchestra was taking place with Head of Music and Music Coordinator across the BSJT Miss Brown. Even though they had only been rehearsing for short period of time already you could see the great potential of the talented musicians from Little Reddings Primary School.
Inspiring Drama teacher Mr Futterill was observed filming his Year 7 students who had worked hard in groups to create some powerfully poignant still-image tableaus. The film that he made was then instantly played back to the students enabling them to self assess themselves against clear success criteria and identify areas for improvement – a powerful model to secure instant progress. Progress over time was also captured in the well designed assessment for learning booklets, full of clear targets for improvement and agreed feedback. It was very impressive!
