Year 7 Safeguarding Assembly: Building a...

This week, our Year 7 students took part in an important Safeguarding Assembly led by the school’s designated Safeguarding leads; Deputy Headteacher Ms De Groot and Safeguarding officer Miss Court. The assembly was designed to help students understand how our school keeps everyone safe and what to do if they ever have a concern about themselves or someone else.

During the assembly, the safeguarding leads introduced the key additional members of the safeguarding team and explained their roles in promoting student welfare. Students learned about the different types of safeguarding issues that can arise—both in school and online—and were reminded that speaking up early and using our ‘report concern’ button on the school’s internet helps ensure everyone can stay safe and supported.

The team also highlighted the school’s trusted adult network, reminding students that there is always someone they can talk to if they are worried, upset, or unsure about something. Clear information was shared about how to make a report, where to go for help, and how to be a supportive friend.

The session encouraged Year 7 to take pride in being part of a caring and respectful community. It reinforced our school’s message that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility—and that by working together, we can make our school a safe, kind,  inclusive, and positive place for all.
