Connecting Key Stages
Head of Faculty for Performing and Visual Arts Mr Knowles led a thought provoking Monday Magic Moment at the start of the week. He explained how he encourages students from across different key stages to work together towards an end goal. The huge benefit of this approach is being able to create the shared learning experiences that inevitably take place – the older students raising the aspirations of the younger students and modeling and supporting achievement towards future stretch and challenge opportunities.
A level and GCSE students watch the same live performance and then analyse what they have seen against the clear examination criteria. Doing this on a shared google document allows all students to see the quality of the analysis across the different year groups and creates a huge bank of exemplary work for all to use in their final assessments.
Simple but effective approaches like this can make a massive difference to student attainment and it was a great start to the week.
